The Brief

ProMods is a map expansion mod for Euro Truck Simulator 2 that is set to improve the base map by adding new countries, remodeling existing areas, and using high-quality textures.

They contacted us to help run, elevate and produce there live streams they do update showcases and community convoys.

How It works

The main backbone of the setup is via OBS which has a Private SRT Ingest to receive the game stream from the talent, and multiple browser sources to receive webcams and microphones from other people joining in on the stream.

The main challenge we have is latency, we wanted this setup to be as much real time and in sync as possible. To start with we experimented using Discord to receive all the microphone inputs however Disocrd will be inconsistent on its latency and one minute be perfect but then suddenly 200ms delayed to the video.

Because of the inconsistency, we moved over to using VDO.Ninja to ingest both the webcam feeds but also microphones.

The other challenge was how we ingested the game feed since we wanted it to be of high quality but also match the low latency we needed to keep the webcam and game in sync. We ended up creating a private SRT ingest on a london based server which is cable to receive and send out video with a Round Trip Time (RTT) of about 2 seconds.
